  • Acts as the collective voice for Sri Lanka’s licensed commercial banks.
  • Engages with government agencies, regulatory bodies (like the Central Bank), and international stakeholders on behalf of member banks.

Policy Advocacy & Regulatory Dialogue

  • Facilitates discussions and feedback between the banking sector and regulators to shape effective financial policies and frameworks.

Sustainable Banking Initiatives

  • Develops and promotes sustainability practices in banking (via the SL-SBI).
  • Offers tools, training, and guidelines to help banks adopt environmentally and socially responsible practices.

Training & Capacity Building

  • Organizes workshops, e-learning modules, and knowledge-sharing events for banking professionals.
  • Focuses on areas like risk management, compliance, digital banking, and ESG standards.

Coordination & Crisis Management

  • Serves as a central body for coordination during times of economic or sector-wide challenges (e.g., financial crises or pandemic response).

Public Awareness & Education

  • Works to improve public understanding of banking practices and financial literacy.

Facilitation of Industry-wide Projects

  • Supports collective initiatives like digital banking frameworks, fraud prevention strategies, and financial inclusion programs.
