Who We Are
SLBA is a company incorporated under the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982, with membership based on the guarantee of its member banks. All members are licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to provide banking services, according to their respective licenses.
Currently, the Association comprises 29 member banks:
- 24 Licensed Commercial Banks (LCBs)
- 5 Licensed Specialised Banks (LSBs)
Licensed Specialised Banks primarily focus on savings and do not offer current accounts or foreign exchange services, as they are not authorised dealers under the Foreign Exchange Act.

What We Do
Established to support the common interests of its members, SLBA promotes cooperation and shared progress across the banking industry. The Association facilitates dialogue among member banks and engages with regulators and government agencies to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit the sector.
SLBA’s role includes:
- Liaising with regulatory and government bodies
- Coordinating industry-wide discussions and initiatives
- Supporting operational alignment to help maintain systemic stability
